Go with the Flow and enjoy all the adventure the Rocky Mountains and the Weber River have to offer with the exciting sport of white water kayaking. The Weber River near Park City is a very popular spot for whitewater actives with fun and easy rapids, rock gardens, endless eddylines, and ample water all summer long. Our kayaking school offers 20 years of river and kayaking experience from long time professional kayaker and Henefer, UT local, Billy Malesky.

Learn To Kayak

Go with the Flow offers kayak lessons for the first time beginner who has never kayaked before to the seasoned paddler working on more advanced whitewater and playboating skills. We customize our programs to fit and accommodate individual or group needs focusing on a positive, fun, and safe experience on the river.

Paddle after work, evening classes

Beginner (No Experience in a Kayak)

This lesson is designed to provide an opportunity for beginners to try the sport of kayaking in a very safe, patient, and calm environment. Go and see places only the river can take you.

Lesson Duration: 3 hours

Price: $75 (includes a Jackson Kayak and all the gear to get you down the river)

What you’ll learn: 

This class will get you to the point that you can safely and enjoyably navigate your way down the river in a kayak. Below is a list of a few of the specifics that this class will cover.

  • Navigating class I and II whitewater
  • Scouting and working with the current
  • River safety, wet exits, and body position
  • The forward stroke, braces, and how to stay upright
  • Having fun and excitement on the river

What you need to bring:

All of your gear will be provided for you. The only things you need to bring are the personal items listed below. For your own comfort, please take special note of the last item and try not to wear any cotton under layers.

  • Swim suit
  • Water Bottle
  • Snacks
  • Make sure your under layers are not cotton

Private Lessons

Get one-on-one instruction, or bring up to 2 friends to work on and fine tune your paddling skills.

Lesson Duration: minimum of 1 hour

Price (Jackson Kayaks included):

  • 1 student: $40
  • 2 students: $30 each
  • 3 students: $25 each

What you’ll learn: 

This class is designed to get you comfortable in a kayak and really take your skills to the next level. Below is a list of a few of the specifics that this class will cover.

  • Rolling your Kayak
  • Forward and Back Strokes
  • High and low braces to stay upright
  • Reading the current
  • River safety
  • Paddling relaxed with confidence

Playboat Lessons

Learn the basics of plaboating from 20 years of freestyle kayaking experience. 

Duration: minimum of 1 hour

Price (Jackson Kayak Included):

  • 1 student: $40
  • 2 students: $30 each
  • 3 students: $25 each

What you’ll learn: 

Playboat lessons will allow you to really hone in your kayaking skills. Before taking this class, you should be very comfortable in a kayak because we will be doing a lot of fun and advanced techniques that you can use to show off to all your friends. Below is a list of a few of the specifics that this class will cover.

  • Flatwater moves: Bow and Stern stalls, Cartwheels at the flatwater loop
  • Eddyline moves: Stern squirts, Front and Back surf, 360°  spins at the friendly taggart wave hole
  • More advanced freestyle tricks, cartwheels, loops, McNasties, and orbits at the taggart wave hole

Sit-on-top Kayak Trips

If you don’t want to be enclosed in a hard shell kayak, but still want the freedom and fun of manuvering your own kayak down the river, our sit-on-top tours are perfect for you.  These tours take you from Henefer to Taggart section of the Weber river.

Duration: 3 hours

Price (includes inflatable sit-on-top kayak and everything you need to get down the river):

  • $75 for an individual
  • $60 per person for a group of two or more (4 person maximum)

What you’ll learn: 

  • Scouting and reading whitewater
  • How to forward stroke
  • Catching and exiting Eddylines
  • River safety

What you need to bring:

  • Swim suit
  • Water Bottle
  • Snacks
  • Make sure your under layers are not cotton

Directions

 

From Salt Lake City or Park City:

Go east on I-80 to the I-84 Intersection. Turn northwest toward Odgen on I-84 West. Get off on second Henefer exit #112. Make a right at the end of the exit ramp toward the river on the dirt road.  Follow the dirt road to the gravel parking lot.

From Odgen:

Take I-84 east to exit #112. Make a left at the end of the exit ramp toward the river on the dirt road.  Follow the dirt road to the gravel parking lot.
